#198 オーバーランドの魅力 The charm of Overland

Mac Mizuno 水野雅俊

Title: The charm of Overland

“The exhilaration of being able to go anywhere in a huge vehicle at will is like conquering the earth, and it is an epic adventure where you can feel your own life force.”

In this issue, we would like to talk about Mr. Mizuno's experiences before and after he came to the U.S. to take on the challenge of overlanding.

After purchasing a large American car in Japan, Mac hit his “right side mirror” on a narrow road. He was surprised at the high cost of repair at the dealer, so he checked Youtube and found an easy DIY repair method in the U.S. He decided to do it himself, so he imported parts from the U.S. and was able to replace it for less than half the cost. He found many cars at the dealership that were waiting for the right side mirror to be repaired, and thinking that this might be a good opportunity, he purchased a large quantity of the part and put it on an auction site, where it sold quickly, which was the starting point of his business. He decided that he wanted to be an exporter, not an importer, and applied for the green card lottery, which he won. Ten years ago, he left his family behind in Japan and moved to the U.S. on his own.

I asked him about Mac San's business sense, “I like what I see. We believe it is important to create a system that allows us to monetize our products with just one touch of the finger of a customer holding a smartphone, while keeping the customer's “I like it, I want it!” It is too late to say, “Please feel free to contact us if you are interested.” We believe that

“many inquiries” is not necessarily a good thing, as it implies a lack of explanation at that point. If you can create a powerful brand by not imitating others, but by expressing your own personality, fusing your interests and strengths with those of “only America” and providing viewers with easy-to-understand information, you will be able to create a powerful brand. Currently, our main activity is to deliver American Jeep and truck parts to users through YouTube and Instagram to let them know the quality and value of our products. We provide a real American adventure experience to customers who are not satisfied with just buying Jeep parts by taking them on a ride-along in a specially equipped 4-wheel drive vehicle equipped with the parts we handle and sell, and taking them into the wilderness where they could lose their lives if they do not have the experience and skills to do so. I am very happy to be able to provide a real American adventure experience to our customers who were not satisfied just buying Jeep parts.

My oldest son is 15 years old and helps me set up camp. He also flies the aerial drone, which is a big help. We started accepting guests from Japan this fall. Our guests who live in the U.S. started booking their participation in the camp in August and were our first tour guests, so we had a lot of fun together.”

We will be taking our U.S. resident guest family in August to a lake with a similar environment to the one below:
